What we plan to do

ARiD’s strategic plan that incorporates community vision is ambitious but achievable in the long run. We are embarking on fundraising for implementing the following activities:

imageInitiate e-community development programme Initiate e-community development programme ARiD strives to set up a modern and robust e-community development Resource Centre with modern environmentally friendly ICT equipments, internet services and relevant resource materials in conflict, peace and development for the purpose of: (a) educating children, youth, men, women, mentally challenged people; (b) generating and disseminating knowledge; (c) promoting access to information and communication rights; (d) enhancing community networking; and, (e) applying ICT into socio-economic, politico-cultural development, particularly in marginalized rural and urban communities and regions. Our priority in 2011 is to set up the e-Community Resource Centre which will serve as the centre of excellence for e-community development in northern Uganda. Local, national, regional and international researchers, academics and organizations will find this initiative worthwhile. Interested and like-minded parties like you will find this noble course useful in making a difference in the quest for peace and development in sub-Saharan African.
imageEstablish a robust hub for community development network Establish a robust hub for community development network. We intend to set up a hub for volunteering, internship and fellowship programmes with effect from summer 2011. The overall goal of establishing the hub is to provide interns, volunteers and fellows with opportunities to bridge theory and practice and also learn from the various areas of expertise offered by ARiD's staff. Volunteers will find this opportunity exciting as they actively get integrated into ARiD's various research projects. Local and international volunteers will have opportunities to work with local community in Pader and Agago districts in northern Uganda.
imageTrain community in life skills that encompass e-governance Train community in life skills that encompass e-governance that includes: community health, e-environment, peacebuilding and conflict transformation, agriculture, community based research, leadership and good governance.
