This is an education programme which involves sponsoring disadvantaged children in schools in Pader district, northern Uganda.

  • The government grant-in-aid to schools is atmost $4.6 per child yearly.
  • Families are responsible for paying for all scholastic materials such as books – up to $155 per child per year.
  • Uganda still has the highest school dropout rate in East Africa (UNESCO, 2010)
  • On average in the conflict areas, only 64% of children who do enrol complete five years of school
  • Across northern Uganda more boys than girls enrol in each grade
  • Nearly half of six-year-olds do not enrol in school in northern Uganda as many leave school to help with chores, care for younger children or to work (SCiU,2010).
  • In Pader district, primary school completion is just 26% (SCiU,2010).
  • School facilities are overstretched and many children attend school under trees.
  • The legacy of the northern Uganda conflicts has greatly impacted the education sector
  • Few aid agencies subsidise schooling in northern Uganda.

What we can do

Together, we can support the most vulnerable children to have a a brighter future through their access and participation to complete full education cycle.

Our investment in a child’s education restores the dignity which poverty, illiteracy and disease stripped away from them.

You can support a child with any of the following things:

  • Tuition fees
  • Scholastic supplies (uniform, school bag
  • Personal effects (daily wear, a pair of lshoes, a mattress or a mosquito net).

How much does it cost to sponsor a child?

  • With $20 per month, you can sponsor a child’s fees, scholastic materials and personal requirements for a year in a primary school.
  • With $15, you can buy a pair of leather shoes for a child.

Make an everlasting difference in the life of a child in Pader
