Charles OYUGI

     Project Officer

Oyugi Charles is a Project Officer at Advocates for research in Development (ARiD) in charge of ongoing programs in Pader and Agago districts. The project target two sectors (health and education) with primary beneficiaries such as women, youth and Person with Disability (PWD).

Charles worked previously with Human Rights Focus (HURIFO) from 2012 to April 2018 as a Human Rights Monitor (HRM) in charge of Pader and Agago districts implementing core duties including investigation, documentation and reporting of human rights concerns in the two districts. While at HURIFO, part of the duty was to resolve conflict through mediations and coordination of indigent groups to access justice through organization’s legal support.

Charles holds a Bachelor degree in Development Studies from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda, and certificates of participation from different on job trainings organized by international and national agencies in human rights, advocacy and good governance.

Previously, I also attained different certificates of award in different leadership positions held during Bachelor degree course at Makerere University from 2008 to 2011.

Charles is a member of the Human Rights Defenders Network Uganda, providing quarterly human rights situation report to National Coalition of Human Rights Defenders Uganda (NCHRDU) and Legal Aid Service Providers Network Uganda (LASPNET).
